Cleveland Air Show 2009 goes on despite accidents

cleveland air show 2009Cleveland Air Show 2009, the annual air show held on Labor Day weekend at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, Ohio, is a GO despite a crash landing that happened during the practice.

Pilot Michael Hoyle said he’s been flying for almost 40 years but has never experienced landing a plane on its belly until that dreadful Friday night. The accident happened during a test run of ISKRA Polish jet when suddenly the landing gear would not come down, a worst case scenario for any pilot. Hoyle’s jet has damage to the engine cowling and the left wing inboard flap. His performance in the air show is canceled.

Such accident is a marketing nightmare and make spectators wary about attending the annual event. Hopefully, the turnout at Cleveland Air Show 2009 won’t be affected this event and the important thing is Holye’s alive and kicking.
