We have a modern day Cinderella named Melanie Oudin. Instead of glass slippers, she has pink and yellow customized Adidas sneakers with the word “BELIEVE”. Apparently, it was her boyfriend’s idea to wear the now popular design. Quite fitting for an unseeded 17-year old who’s winning some big games in the ongoing 2009 U.S. Open. Actually, it is Oudin’s first first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance. Soon, the title “America’s next tennis princess” is no longer a dream but a reality waiting to happen.
Melanie Oudin’s customized shoes are currently not available to the public. But given its success and hype, Adidas may want to cash in and start opening its line of shoes with different motivational words. Melanie Oudin has another come-from-behind upset victory today against 13th seed Nadia Petrova. After dropping the first set 6-1, Oudin stormed back to win a second set tiebreak and then ran away with the deciding set, 6-3.
Who knows, Melanie Oudin shoes might send her straight to championships. All she needs to do is play hard and believe.
